Dr. Danielle Dick, Ph.D., is a tenured Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she serves as the inaugural director of the Rutgers Addiction Research Center at the Brain Health Institute and holds the Greg Brown Endowed Chair in Neuroscience. She is author of The Child Code, and Co-Founder of Thrive Genetics. She is an internationally recognized and award-winning expert on genetic and environmental influences on human behavior. She has led over 25 grants from the National Institutes of Health, with grant funding totaling >55 million dollars and >450 publications. She is passionate about translating research into advances in human health; her team recently built the Comprehensive Addiction Risk Evaluation System (CARES; addictionrisk.com), integrating new advances in genomics and epidemiology to help empower individuals to support healthier outcomes.
Nicholas Urban is a LCSW Substance Use Program Coordinator. He received his MSSW from the Columbia University School of Social Work in 2014. While at Columbia, he completed a full year of intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy with Behavioral Tech, LLC, and interned at Creedmoor Psychiatric Hospital in Queens, NY. Since then, Nick has continued to work with adults and adolescents in both private and public settings where he provides DBT and CBT for individuals, families, and couples, as well as group skills training.
Focused on adolescent development, this panel addresses modern risk factors such as substance use, digital exposure, impulsivity, and peer dynamics. Discussion will highlight prevention, harm reduction, and the role of caregivers and educators in supporting teen well-being and safety.

Dr. Julia Turovsky is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety and related disorders. She has worked in research and academic settings prior to starting her private practice and has trained many graduate and postdoctoral students in evidence-based treatments. Dr. Turovsky provides evaluations and treatments to adolescents and adults suffering from anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and mood disorders. Dr. Turovsky has a special interest and experience in working with college students and young adults who are in various stages of life transition.
Alison Steiner, LCSW brings over 30 years of clinical and supervisory experience in psychotherapy and school social work. She works with adolescents and adults using a compassionate, client-centered approach focused on problem-solving, emotional awareness, and meaningful growth. Ms. Steiner tailors treatment plans to each client and utilizes evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her work supports individuals facing anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, emotion regulation difficulties, self-harm and suicidal ideation, social skills deficits, parenting and relationship issues, and challenges related to Autism Spectrum Disorder.
As students prepare to leave home for college, emotional readiness is just as important as academic preparation. This panel offers guidance for students and families on navigating independence, managing stress, and staying connected while prioritizing mental health and well-being on campus.

Dr. Dakashna Lang has been an English Teacher in Livingston, NJ for 22 years. She is proud to have won the Governor’s Teacher of the Year Award for her school, Heritage Middle School, in 2018-2019. She was one of the inaugural fellows in the Teach Asian American Stories fellowship for AAPI NJ in 2024 and continues to work as a TAAS Ambassador. Winner of the ECEA Racial Advocacy Award and the NJEA Judith Owens Spirit Award in 2025, she continues to be a passionate advocate for social justice and equity in education to ensure that all student voices are heard.

She has been a Fulbright Scholar to India and is a professor emerita at William Paterson University.
